Spring! Anonymous Content! Birthday!

I'm happy to celebrate Spring with Nix - my Crow-Hare fairy.  You may have seen her before or in one of her other seasonal themes. In any event, the Equinox has been welcomed and we're entering the Next.

After the travel collages, it took a bit to do all the 'at home' things waiting for  you when you've been away.  Eventually, an image caught my eye 'just because' and this collage emerged from it. This is the first collage since I've been home.  I call these my 'anonymous content' collages, as I am not carrying a theme forward, instead letting the images 'find' their congruency together.

The anchor image is the trio of retro-looking people, in the sepia tone, which I embraced.  I found it without any context except Kitty, Daisy & Lewis in the image name, who I discovered is a band. You can check them out here.

It's my birthday month, so naturally an 'annual' collage is in my plan. Totems abound - crow, octopi & such and this year, the trees of Forsyth Park in Savanah were still much with me and provided the background.

Being away is nice. Being home just nice. Fortunate me. ꩜

Till next time.

More Savannah 2025

The many styles of architecture here in Savannah continues to inspire me. Our daily walk-abouts always have a new discovery even after all these years.

Forsyth Park is almost a daily stop. This coat of many colors, vibrantly pink, orange and more,  totally caught my eye. She enjoyed greeting the various dogs walking through, so here in her many versions, are some companions.

This  antique shop is on my daily route.  The blue chair with flowers is part of its decor,  Our 1920's parasol lady enjoys the scene.

On Saturday each week there is Farmer's Market at Forsyth Park - food and crafts. Tusk Coffee provides fuel for shopping and coffee to go.  They call their traveling coffee truck, 'to go Jo'.

Savannah, Georgia 2025!!

I'm fortunate to be Wintering in Savannah once again. We've been coming here for 10 years in varying lengths of stay, since we first stopped overnight on our way to St Petersburg, Florida.

It's colder here than usual, but nothing compared to the wintery temps in other places.  We're still doing our usual rambles and people-watching in Forsyth Park, but the cooler temps makes us want to be cozy at home in the afternoons, which is a perfect time for collage.

I delighted in the 'Roly Poly' sign and knew it was a perfect collage background for me.  I found the colorful figure on a vintage blog; she posts herself in her retro outfits. I think she'd find the little dog a perfect companion.

Our dear friends, Morris and Elizabeth, met up with us on their way north to Asheville, NC from Florida.  We had a lovely lunch and a wonderful long chat at the Rancho Alegre Cuban Restaurant, one of our long-time favorite places.

I read about Kim's Cafe in a great Savannah food blog, Eat It and Like It, by Jesse Blanco.  You may have heard of it as well, since Kamala Harris visited there last summer.  Great  'down home' breakfast and we're looking to go back for dinner. I'm up for the Meatloaf!  The Cafe also does a lot of community work with programs for youth and providing free meals weekly at a local church.

Savannah 2024 Last call. Flowered 'Girls' and their houses

This is my final post from my Winter in Savannah.  I took the photos of both the lovely homes featured in these two collages on different days.  One phots was in my 'possible' folder and the other caught my attention and I went to work on it soon after I got the photo. When I looked in my 'Blog- Collages To Post' folder, I discovered they carried a similar vibe, even though they were not done at the same time.  The houses knew who and what they wanted.

Yesterday, I walked on the street where the houses are and discovered they were neighbors - almost next door to each other! - one house between them.  I love life's little synchronicities.

Thank you
for sharing my travels with me.

More in Savannah - Forsyth Park to Betty Bombers

The 30 acre Forsyth Park and it's lovely fountain are a major Savannah landmark. The park is near where we are staying and is a big part of our day.  We walk near or through it to get to most places and we walk to it to just sit and people-watch under the Live Oaks.

These lively guys appear to be best buddies and meet up in the park most days. I added a friend to the crew and he  fits right in.

The gentleman on the bench seemed to be contemplative, striking me as from another time. Our Lady of the Parasol joined him.  The dramatic flower accent is courtesy of Deb Booth from one of her quilled art pieces.

Betty Bombers is also in our neighborhood and has become a favorite place.  It is a World War 11-themed eatery [especially love the 40' music that plays] and is uniquely located in the building that houses the American Legion Post 135.  Savannah is famous for being home of the Mighty 8th Flying Fortress B-17 planes during WW11, when the air force was the Army Air Corps.

My father was in the Army Air Corps and served as a plane mechanic.  I had particular fun working on this collage on my father's birthday and you'll find a little  homage to him in the portrait of the handsome fellow on the right.
